Local Area

The surrounding area has many footpaths and walks, and the lane to the rear of the cottage gives immediate access to the surrounding hills, with the nearby Snowdonia National Park just waiting to be explored. Glynllifon Park is just a few minutes’ drive away, and a great day out with something for everybody; gardens, craft workshops, a café and steam engine. The beach and pretty harbour at Trefor is only a short distance away, as is the village of Aberdesach, with seafront parking and beach walks. The seaside town of Pwllheli with its marina and beach is ten miles away, as is Abersoch, with its award winning beaches, popular with boaters and surfers alike. The historic town of Caernarfon with its imposing World Heritage Site castle, ancient cobbled streets and pretty waterfront is just a 10 minute drive away. This is a great location for exploring, with a selection of Snowdonia’s attractions on the doorstep, whilst pretty countryside is all around, along with the many miles of stunning coastline to enjoy. A wonderful base and perfect for a relaxed seaside getaway or an active holiday all year round.

Clynnog Fawr

The small village of Clynnog Fawr nestles between the foothills of Snowdonia and the unspoiled North coast of the Llyn Peninsula. It has grown up around the mediaeval church of St Beuno,one of the most important pilgrimage sites for travellers journeying to Bardsey Island. The village has a peaceful dog friendly  beach, and is a haven for beachcombers. 

Trefor

The small village of Trefor is surrounded by sea and mountains, overlooking Caernarfon Bay, and enjoys a harbour with stone breakwater pier and sheltered sandy beach that the Wales Coastal Path runs past, or the more adventurous can enjoy a regular surf outside the breakwater. Nearby, in the village of Llithfaen, are the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre and restaurant. The pretty coastal town of Nefyn lies 7.5 miles away, sitting atop sweeping cliffs, and is home to a fine, two-mile stretch of sandy beach, along with a good selection of shops, pubs (including the must visit Ty Coch which featured in the Guardian’s Top 10 beach bars)and restaurants, and the award-winning golf club is popular with families and couples alike. Clynnog is also within reach of the amenities of the popular towns of Pwllheli, Abersoch, Caernarfon, Portmerion and Bangor. The coastline around this region is dotted with castles and coves, while fishing, sailing and watersports are all available. The start of the Snowdonia National Park is 5 miles away, with its dramatic scenery and abundance of superb walks. With its proximity to such a wide range of destinations, this area makes a superb base for a break in North Wales.
